Year 6

This term we will be looking at alternative strategies to employ in Reading, Writing and Maths.

We are learning about putting on a production; including creating scenery, learning lines and songs, producing a programme, and designing costumes.

This term in Year 6 our curriculum is centred around Performing arts. The children will work on a range of skills with qualified coaches. They will experience singing in small groups and individually. They will study a range of acting skills and work on strategies for learning lines. They will experience the real audition process and work towards a big performance. Throughout this process, the children will use design and technology skills to create set design for the final piece. They will also put together costumes and use technology to add lighting and musical affects.

Our class reading book this term is set in the 17th century; it surrounds the conflicts between the Protestants and catholic religion. It is called Black Powder; we will use this alongside a wide range of texts to enhance our reading skills.

Extra curricular experiences this term will involve: A fire safety experience, a play in a day experience, I.M.P.s who specialise in first aid workshops, a Prison me no way experience - which is a full day understanding Prison experiences, consequences, railways safety and road safety.
